Village signs

As part of the Wallingfen Way project the 3 villages have agreed on a style of Wooden finger style posts (e.g. Bridleway etc) to go along Main Rd.

We would welcome your (Newport) views as to where these should be sited and what they should say/indicate. There will be approx. 6 or 7 for Newport and they must be located along Main Rd between Mill Lane and the motorway junction. There could be a secondary sign located a little further off Main Rd…. e.g. Brickyard Nature/Play Area. They will all have a Wallingfen Way logo, be made of Oak and will be installed in late Spring.

Big thanks

Many thanks to members of NCAA and the Raft Race Committee for installing the Planters around the village. At last some signs of Spring!

Village volunteers and helpers

I am trying to create a database of volunteers and helpers in the village. The idea is for ad hoc groups of individuals to be advised of activities that they may wish to help out with. This could be working with the Newport Community Action Association, the Raft Race, the Parish Council or the Wallingfen Way group. Activities might include things like bulb and shrub planting, litter picking, snow clearing, painting, cleaning etc. You don't have to come to any meetings or join any committees!

Wallingfen Way Actions

Do let us have your views about improvements along Main Road, Newport. We are developing a list of 'actions' for each Village. Current ideas include:- new signs (footpaths) and new village entrance signs, tree and shrub planting, litter pick, removal of the footbridge, tidy up frontage to the Recreation Hall etc.

Unfortunately we can't include things in this Project that are the statutory responsibility of East Riding Council Highways Dept. e.g. Footpaths, Parking, road signs, speed reduction measures.
Post your ideas as comments on this Blog...... Many thanks - Gordon
