Applications regarding the Landfill

There is a Parish Council meeting on the 27th April 2011 7pm at the School again the planning applications for the Landfill site are for discussion.

The Precept

At the meeting of Newport Parish Council on Wednesday 12 January 2011 the Precept for 2011/2012 was discussed. Those present at the meeting included Cllrs Shields (Chair), Allard, Chapman, Clarke, Collins, Johnson and Openshaw.
The minutes show the following under Item nine point three: The Precept demand 2011/12: Resolved that the precept demand for 2011/12 should remain unchanged at £41000. Proposed: Cllr Collins. Seconded: Cllr Allard.

Why then when I have received my bill does it show a percentage increase of 0.1%, for the amount Newport Parish Council is to collect?

ERNLLCA INFO On Precept setting

Whilst browsing the ERNLLCA web site http://www.ernllca.org.uk/Core/ernllca/Pages/Latest_news_1.aspx

I came across various items including one on precepts, which included this clear line of text.

I have not had sight of and am unaware of the existence of a clearly defined NPC budget, however if the current legislation is being strictly adhered too then there must be a NPC budget document available for scrutiny.

Absolutely stunned and astounded

Tony Johnston using Sharon's blog, with her permission.

I attended this months NPC meeting earlier tonight and was absolutely stunned and astounded to hear repeated comments by some parish council members, about " them" and " The residents"

Implying that the residents of Newport were at best a slight inconvenience to the parish councils plans and at worst that they are a peculiar dim underclass who have the audacity to repeatedly question the Parish council and often on the same issues.

Highest Parish precept in the East Riding of Yorkshire ?

The Parish precept, which covers the cost of services provided by the parish council and forms part of the overall annual East Riding council tax bill, you receive every year.

In 2009/2010 Newport villagers saw a 37 per cent increase in their parish precept as part of their council tax charge.

This made the village the most expensive parish to live in within the East Riding.
