Speeding traffic in Newport

A heavy goods vehicle demolished the pelican crossing outside the school Tuesday pm ( 17th May ).
Could have been a lot worse!!

Can someone explain why the parents congregate outside the school where the crossong is,surely it would be safer if the children were let out in the village hall area,which would be much safer.At present if a vehicle was travelling at 10mph. the same consequences would occur.Incedentaly I was driving through the village the other day and a parent who was interviewed on the television that night was parking her car on the chevron area near the lights !!
