Starstruck Players Triumph Again
Last night Lauren and I attended Starstruck's performance of MAM, AM 'ERE, an interpretation of the film Mama Mia, but with local connections.
The village hall was packed out, partly because their reputation as a talented group of players goes before them, but also because of the positive reviews of the earlier performances. Judging by audience reaction, everyone had a great night out. The performance was slick and the arrangement was yet another improvement on what they have done before.
As well as the main cast members performing as well as they did, and here I would mention Wendy and Melissa Kay, Amanda Hardy and Dave Farrow, there were some excellent cameo performances, in particular from Rhonda Clarke and Michael Cook. Much of the humour came from the male members of the cast, and again Frank Butler had us in stitches of laughter in his various roles.
Mary Matthews produced yet another collection of stunning costumes.
Congratulations go to Sue Cook for her role in bringing this performance together and for showing that Newport is more than just a place to live but is a community which comes together for the benefit of everyone.
Well done to everyone who contributed to the show and many thanks for an excellent night out.
